Rolling Stone Now<\/a>\u00a0podcast, Darius says, “Every time I played with Hootie, in \u201919 and two years ago, it\u2019s because I thought the fans wanted it. It\u2019s not because I wanted to. I wasn\u2019t dying to go play with Blowfish. I wasn\u2019t dying to take a huge pay cut, but, you know, the fans wanted it.\u201d<\/p>\nWhile Darius and Hootie are scheduled to play the Stagecoach festival next spring, he notes, “We won\u2019t play again anytime soon. If we play again, I\u2019ll be well into my\u00a060s if we ever play again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Darius also reveals he’s almost done with his next solo country album, but he’s currently more focused on Howl Owl Howl<\/strong>, the “supergroup” that features him, R.E.M.<\/strong>‘s Mike Mills<\/strong> and Steve Gorman<\/strong>, a former member of The Black Crowes<\/strong>.
