Lewis Capaldi<\/a>\u2019s new four-song EP<\/a> is out today, and with it the arrival of a new single, \u201cThe Day That I Die.\u201d<\/p>\n

The track is vintage Capaldi, a deeply affecting, piano-led ballad that finds the Scottish singer-songwriter ruminating on mortality in stark, but evocative terms. On the track\u2019s characteristically booming bridge, Capaldi belts, \u201cJust as the sun will rise\/And the sun will set\/I will love you just the same from somewhere different\/Until you close your eyes\/And we meet again\/Don\u2019t you, don\u2019t cry.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Instagram<\/a>, Capaldi said the \u201cThe Day That I Die\u201d was about \u201cthe lowest I\u2019ve felt in my life,\u201d and admitted it felt \u201ca bit weird putting it out there for people to hear.\u201d Still, he continued, \u201cI\u2019m honestly the proudest I\u2019ve ever been about a song with this one. It\u2019s been an absolute pleasure being back and releasing music and playing shows the last six months and I\u2019m honestly so pleased to say I feel so far removed from the place I was when. Wrote this song. Looking forward to much more next year.\u201d<\/p>\n
