The New Sussex Symphony will perform ballet and film music at a concert on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Newton, 111 Ryerson Ave.<\/p>\n
The program will include Igor Stravinsky\u2019s ballet The Fairy\u2019s Kiss<\/i>, based on the dark Hans Christian Andersen tale The Ice Maiden<\/i>, Alexander Borodin\u2019s overture to the opera Prince Igor<\/i>, and Leo Delibes\u2019 lively ballet Sylvia<\/i>, which includes a short plucked-note movement recently used in the children\u2019s DVD Beethoven\u2019s Wig<\/i>.<\/p>\n
Aimee Morrill Bryant, the orchestra\u2019s concertmaster for the 2024-25 season, will be featured as soloist in the \u201cMeditation\u201d from the opera Thais<\/i>, a piece recognized from the Titanic<\/i> soundtrack.<\/p>\n
The symphony also will participate in the annual \u201cOrchestras Feeding America\u201d food drive, sponsored by the League of American Orchestras. Donations of non-perishable goods will benefit the Manna House soup kitchen in Newton.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
