Whoopi Goldberg<\/a> was missing from the \u201cHot Topics\u201d table on Monday\u2019s edition of\u00a0The View<\/a>, and her cohosts were all too eager to share why.<\/p>\n Joy Behar<\/a> appeared in Goldberg\u2019s spot at the table alongside Sara Haines<\/a>, Ana Navarro<\/a>, Sunny Hostin<\/a>, and Alyssa Farah Griffin<\/a>, and explained why she was on hand for a Monday show, when she\u2019s usually off.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you\u2019re wondering why I\u2019m here on a Monday, and Whoopi is not, it\u2019s because she\u2019s in Italy filming a soap opera,\u201d Behar explained. \u201cShe<\/span> sent<\/span> us<\/span> a<\/span> video<\/span> letting<\/span> us<\/span> know<\/span> how<\/span> it\u2019s<\/span> going.<\/span> So<\/span> let\u2019s<\/span> watch<\/span> that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The panelists then revealed a video of Goldberg in her hair and makeup chair getting ready for the show, which was being produced in Naples, and she revealed she was nervous.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I\u2019ve worked with these ladies before. I think this is the third thing we\u2019ve done together. So we\u2019re here cleaning me up, and I met the two directors, met everybody, and it\u2019s still very nerve-wracking,\u201d Goldberg said in the video.<\/p>\n Hostin then explained the details of Goldberg\u2019s role in the series, saying, \u201cShe<\/span> plays<\/span> an<\/span> American<\/span> translator.<\/span> She<\/span> moves<\/span> into<\/span> this<\/span> apartment<\/span> complex.<\/span> It\u2019s<\/span> a<\/span> very<\/span> famous<\/span> soap<\/span> opera<\/span> for people who live<\/span> in<\/span> Italy<\/span> that<\/span> are<\/span> thrilled<\/span> that<\/span> Whoopi is<\/span> going<\/span> to<\/span> be<\/span>\u00a0on<\/span> the<\/span> soap<\/span> opera.<\/span> I\u2019m<\/span> going<\/span> to<\/span> watch<\/span> it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Goldberg\u2019s casting in the series, titled\u00a0Un Posto Al Sole, was first announced in June. The actress said in an Instagram announcement, \u201cI just want to say how happy I am to be joining the cast of\u00a0Un Posto Al Sole. They know it\u2019s a crazy idea. I know it\u2019s a crazy idea. But what a wonderful thing to do\u2026. No, my Italian\u2019s not perfect, but we\u2019ve worked it out.\u201d<\/p>\n She is expected to appear in multiple episodes of the series.<\/p>\n
