As guitarist Michael Clifford explained, that was key.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always gotta be fun and exciting and uncomfortable a little bit, I think, in order to just continue to wanna do it, you know?\u201d Clifford said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"op-interactive\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border-radius: 12px;\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/episode\/3Iwfu0sy82xUew2rqv8ENB?utm_source=generator\" width=\"400\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-testid=\"embed-iframe\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBecause we\u2019re just not the type of band who makes the same song over and over again, or wants to <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">make a sound that\u2019s just that one thing. T<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hey\u2019re already there for a reason. I<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">f you wanna listen to something like that, you can just go listen to it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frontman Luke Hemmings agreed, noting that since their third album, 2018\u2019s\u00a0<em>Youngblood<\/em>, they have wanted to try new sounds, rather then stick to what they\u2019ve already done.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s like, what does the band need to sound like now? We just keep riding that wave\u2026 even on the fifth album [2022\u2019s\u00a0<em>5SOS5<\/em>] that was very introspective and wide and expansive.
