The Maccabees<\/a> could be set to release new music in 2026, according to guitarist Felix White<\/a>.<\/p>\n The London band returned to the stage this year for their first live shows since 2017, including a huge headline slot at All Points East 2025<\/a> and a performance at Glastonbury Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n White, who formed 86TVs<\/a> following The Maccabees\u2019 split, has now told William Hill Sports Book Of The Year Award<\/a><\/em> that there will be further dates from the latter, and even hinted at new material incoming.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know when our dates are going be announced, but we\u2019re going to do some more shows, there\u2019ll be five or six next summer,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter we played at Glastonbury and All Points East this year, we thought that might just be it, but everyone had such a good time. It felt so euphoric, so why wouldn\u2019t we want to do that again!\u201d<\/p>\n White then addressed \u201cthe inevitable next question\u201d from fans, regarding new music and a potential follow-up to The Maccabees\u2019 fourth album \u2018Marks To Prove It\u2019<\/a> (2015).<\/p>\n \u201cThe answer is, we don\u2019t know,\u201d he continued. \u201cHaving those shows in next year means we\u2019ve got enough time to think about it and see which way it\u2019s going to go. If The Maccabees keep going beyond that point, we\u2019d want to feel like a functioning band that are making music and are there for a reason.\u201d<\/p>\n The musician went on to say that these yet-to-be-announced gigs \u201cwill either be the last Maccabees shows, or we\u2019ll try and make some music and see where it goes\u201d.<\/p>\n White added: \u201cI\u2019ve found it really hard to juggle all the things I\u2019ve been doing over the past year or so. When The Maccabees was the only thing in my life, I had to dedicate a large chunk of time to it in order for it to work.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t really have the space to even consider it this year, but it\u2019s starting to clear now. As long as I don\u2019t get too good an idea for another sports book, it\u2019ll more likely, but we\u2019ll see what happens!\u201d<\/p>\n The guitarist has published two books: It\u2019s Always Summer Somewhere: A Matter Of Life And Cricket<\/em> (2021) and Whatever Will Be, Will Be: A Matter Of Life And Football<\/em> (2025). He also hosts the cricket podcast Tailenders<\/em><\/a>, and wrote the scores for the documentaries\u00a0McEnroe<\/em> (2022) and The Edge<\/em> (2019).<\/p>\n \u201cI haven\u2019t got another book in my mind at the moment,\u201d White said. \u201cI\u2019ve had a really mad year where I was doing a film score, writing my book around the FA Cup, playing in The Maccabees, doing the Tailenders<\/em> podcast and then Jimmy [Anderson] and I went on tour!<\/p>\n \u201cSo, I\u2019m just going to have a couple of months of stopping and working out what\u2019s next for me creatively.\u201d<\/p>\n Over the summer, White teased that it was \u201ctempting\u201d for The Maccabees to head back into the studio<\/a>. He revealed that the band weren\u2019t working on any new music at the time, saying: \u201cMaybe because we\u2019re not writing anything at the moment, there\u2019s no tension.
