\u201cDaily Show<\/a>\u201d host Jon Stewart<\/a> on Monday said the pressure over files related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein<\/a> might finally be getting to President Donald Trump<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Trump, who promised during the campaign to release the Epstein files, has instead spent months trying to block that release. With the House now expected to easily pass a discharge petition that would call for the files\u2019 release, Stewart said the president has \u201cpivoted.\u201d Trump is now urging the very same Republicans<\/a> he pressured<\/a> into blocking that petition to support it, claiming \u201cwe have nothing to hide.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Stewart isn\u2019t buying it \u2015 for one simple reason.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIf he had nothing to hide, he could have declassified and released these files himself at any time,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cHow do I know this?\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n He then rolled footage of Trump in 2022, insisting a president can declassify anything, at any time, just by saying so or \u201ceven by thinking about it<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Stewart said it\u2019s \u201cvery clear\u201d Trump doesn\u2019t want those files out there, and has given \u201cnonsensical answers\u201d when asked about Epstein.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIs it possible that Trump\u2019s whole bullshit facade is crumbling?\u201d Stewart asked. \u201cI mean, right now, all he can do is distract from one lie with what is clearly another lie.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Stewart then played a clip showing Trump doing exactly that. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAll I want is I want for people to recognize a great job that I\u2019ve done on pricing, on affordability,\u201d Trump said. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cWhat planet do you live on?\u201d Stewart fired back. \u201cGreat job on affordability? My Taco Bell order is now $72!\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Trump, he said, is off his game. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThis dude is flailing,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cThe normally reliable Trump is even struggling to deliver on his greatest gift: the cutting nickname.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Trump shot to political prominence in part by gutting his opponents with vicious nicknames, yet he has floundered in choosing one to describe his former ally, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene<\/a> (R-Ga.).
