Before returning to the small screen for the Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade<\/a>, Hoda Kotb<\/a> is stopping by Today<\/a><\/em> for a special reason.<\/p>\n \u201cSomething to look forward to tomorrow here on Today<\/em>. Hoda will be back,\u201d Craig Melvin<\/a> announced on the NBC morning show\u2019s Wednesday, November 19, episode. \u201cShe\u2019s gonna be here to share her really touching conversation with Jay Leno<\/a>. The comedy and late-night icon opening up about his love story with his beloved wife, Mavis, and their journey and his new role as caretaker after her dementia diagnosis.\u201d<\/p>\n Melvin noted that he was looking forward to Kotb and Leno\u2019s conversation, as \u201ca lot of folks can relate to that.\u201d Guthrie agreed, adding, \u201cAbsolutely. Powerful conversation tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n In January 2024, news broke that Leno had filed for conservatorship<\/a> over his wife, whom he wed in 1980, after she had been diagnosed with dementia. He was granted the conservatorship that April.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been very lucky in my life. My wife is fighting dementia and all that, but it\u2019s not cancer,\u201d Leno shared in an interview with People<\/a> earlier this month. \u201cIt\u2019s not a tumor, so I enjoy taking care of her.\u201d<\/p>\n He noted that taking care of his wife is \u201cnot work,\u201d adding, \u201cPeople come up, and say they feel so sorry. I understand the sympathy, because I know a lot of people are going through it, but it\u2019s okay. I like taking care of her. I enjoy her company, and we have a good time. Two months after making a video appearance on the show to announce<\/a> her book, Jump and Find Joy<\/em><\/a>, Kotb returned<\/a> to Studio 1A in May to celebrate the launch of her wellness brand, Joy 101.<\/p>\n \u201cThe wave I\u2019m riding right now is magical for me. I\u2019m starting a new business. I\u2019m putting all my time and effort into what I hope will make people feel better, which was my favorite part of the show anyway,\u201d Kotb said in a prerecorded package<\/a> on May 28. \u201cHow can we lift people up? How can we lighten the load? What can we do?\u201d<\/p>\n Kotb most recently appeared on Today<\/em>\u2018s October 2 episode, and was given a special surprise<\/a> in honor of her book Jump and Find Joy<\/em>. \u201cWe found a story that we think you\u2019re gonna love. It really fits with that mantra of jump and find something new,\u201d Savannah Guthrie<\/a> explained. \u201cThis is a journey that combines two of your favorite things, music and taking a very big leap.\u201d<\/p>\n Guthrie and her fellow Today<\/em> hosts went on to surprise Kotb with America\u2019s Got Talent<\/a><\/em> Season 20 contestant Chuck Adams, whom Kotb previously praised via social media. Adams worked as a struggling musician before his AGT<\/em> audition went viral earlier this year.<\/p>\n \u201cI am so proud of you and so happy for you, \u2019cause I think a lot of people might have after a couple of setbacks, like after getting dropped by a record label, you might say, \u2018Maybe this wasn\u2019t for me,’\u201d Kotb told Adams.<\/p>\n He returned her kind words, stating, \u201cThat\u2019s why I appreciate you posting it and your story.
