Following a Luke Combs performance of \u201cBack in the Saddle,\u201d host Lainey Wilson<\/a> properly kicked off the 2025 CMA Awards, with a medley of country favorites originally performed by some of the stars in the Nashville crowd.<\/p>\n After some introductory remarks about how excited she was to be hosting the awards and how the creators of all her go-to playlist jams were in the audience that night, Wilson offered to demonstrate the point herself: \u201cHow about I get my buddy Charlie Worsham up here on guitar and we sing \u2019em for y\u2019all?\u201d<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n After Worsham dutifully joined her on stage with acoustic in tow, Wilson launched into Chris Stapleton\u2019s \u201cWhite Horse,\u201d as the camera panned to Stapleton in the seats. That set the tone for an era-spanning medley, with a full band kicking in as Wilson started wandering the aisles at Bridgestone Arena to find the original artists of the songs she was racing through.<\/p>\n Have you played Billboard\u2019s \u201cA Little Bit Country\u201d Crossword? Over the course of her medley, Wilson also hit on Brooks & Dunn (\u201cHillbilly Deluxe\u201d), Ella Langley (\u201cYou Look Like You Love Me\u201d), Gretchen Wilson (\u201cRedneck Woman\u201d), Lady A (\u201cNeed You Now\u201d), Miranda Lambert (\u201cGunpowder and Lead\u201d), Shaboozey (\u201cA Bar Song\u201d) and Little Big Town (joining in with her for a full-group performance of \u201cGirl Crush\u201d). Following that, a six-string-strapped Keith Urban took the mic on stage to perform his \u201900s classic \u201cWhere the Blacktop Ends,\u201d with Wilson eventually accomapnying him on harmonies.<\/p>\n The medley was a charming run through country history, with artists like Lambert, Shaboozey and Langley getting in the fun by dancing and miming to the camera along with Wilson.
