Shaboozey<\/a> and Stephen Wilson Jr.<\/a> took the CMA Awards audience on an emotional walk Wednesday night (Nov. 19).<\/p>\n Standing on a set made to look like a lush field of wheat at dusk, both country stars\u2019 voices sounded raw and gorgeous over an emotional accompaniment provided by the band on stage with them. \u2018Boozey and Wilson took turns singing verses before joining together at the end, crooning, \u201cSo let\u2019s stay out here for a while, my friend\/ Let\u2019s stay and walk the line \u2019til the end\/ I know you\u2019re tired, hell, so am I\/ We can\u2019t take the same road again.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n The ballad was featured in this year\u2019s film adaptation of Stephen King\u2019s The Long Walk<\/em>, a harrowing tale about a dystopian society in which a selection of young men enter an annual contest in the hopes of winning fame and fortune, which they can only secure after outliving the rest of the competitors on a days-long walk across the country. \u201cI feel so excited,\u201d \u2018Boozey told Billboard<\/a> <\/em>on the CMAs red carpet shortly before the show. \u201cI think it\u2019s going to be a really special performance, doing it with my boy.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTook a Walk\u201d wasn\u2019t the only performance Wilson delivered Wednesday night. Shortly before taking the stage with his duet partner, he did a solo, stripped-down rendition of Ben E. King\u2019s \u201cStand By Me\u201d for the crowd at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.<\/p>\n Have you played Billboard\u2019s \u201cA Little Bit Country\u201d Crossword? Also speaking to Billboard<\/a> <\/em>before the ceremony, Wilson explained how his two performances were linked. \u201cI\u2019m a big Stephen King fan,\u201d he said. \u201cI play this song called \u2018Stand By Me,\u2019 which I\u2019m playing tonight as well, because of a movie called Stand By Me <\/em>based off a Stephen King [story called The Body<\/em>]. It\u2019s been haunting me my whole life.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cFast-forward these years later, I get invited to sing this song and write this song with Shaboozey for a Stephen King movie called The Long Walk<\/em>,\u201d he added on the carpet. \u201cThe world is weird, life is weird and I\u2019m just here for it.\u201d<\/p>\n Both stars were nominated for the same award this year, receiving nods for new artist of the year. The prize ultimately went to Zach Top.<\/p>\n The ceremony comes as Shaboozey is working on a new album.
