Earlier this year Beyond the Gates<\/em> introduced viewers to Alex Cheeks<\/strong>, who plays the son of Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli<\/strong>) and Doug (Jason Graham<\/strong>). In a new interview, Cheeks reflected on his experience joining the CBS daytime drama and addressed whether fans can expect to see him again.<\/p>\n In an interview <\/a>with YouTuber Cornelius Hocker<\/strong>, Cheeks discussed what it was like steeping into the world of Beyond the Gates<\/em>. \u201cMy first day was in early June. I had three scenes,\u201d he said. \u201cMy first episode, the first one I had ever filmed, was with Maurice [P. Kerry<\/strong>], who plays Randy.\u201d<\/p>\n Cheeks recalled that the shoot didn\u2019t go as planned due to technical delays. \u201cThere were a lot of technical issues going on,\u201d he explained. During his downtime, he and Kerry prepared together. \u201cI told him, \u2018Hey, this is my first day. This is my first scene.\u2019 He was just so excited to have shot my first scene with him and it was super fun.\u201d<\/p>\n Cheeks described Kerry as \u201ca really good first scene partner\u201d and said the actor was incredibly supportive. \u201cI learned a lot from him,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Cheeks\u2019 other two scenes were filmed with Ernestine Johnson<\/strong> (who plays Shanice) and Buglioli. Explaining his connection to his TV mom, the actor shared, \u201cEver since ever since my first day, me and Lauren just clicked, We talk almost every other day.\u201d \u201cShe’s been a great TV mother figure.\u201d \u201cEven before I had met her, I had all these producers telling me that \u2018Lauren’s just the best,\u2019 \u2018You’re going to absolutely love her,\u2019 and she really delivered on that promise.\u201d<\/p>\n Cheeks added that Buglioli went out of her way to help him prepare for the role. \u201cShe’s been so supportive, she jumped on a Zoom call with me before I had my first day,\u201d he said. \u201cShe explained to me what’s going on, how she interprets her character and their situation. That kind of helped me out with thinking about my character as well.\u201d<\/p>\n Cheeks praised Buglioli’s support throughout his time on set, calling her \u201can amazing human being\u201d and shared, \u201cthe one thing I’ll take away from the experience is the relationship I’ve developed with her.
