Converge<\/b> have announced their 11th album, Love Is Not Enough<\/i>, due February 13 via Deathwish\/Epitaph. It\u2019s the band\u2019s first proper album since 2017\u2019s The Dusk In Us<\/i><\/a>, and it also follows their 2021 album with Chelsea Wolfe, Bloodmoon: I<\/i><\/a>. As usual, guitarist Kurt Ballou recorded and mixed the album, and vocalist Jacob Bannon handled the artwork and design.<\/p>\n We\u2019ve also got an exclusive \u201cghost\u201d vinyl variant that comes in an exclusive three-color silkscreen wrap, also designed by Bannon. That\u2019s limited to 500 copies, and you can pre-order yours in the BV shop<\/a> now. Check out a mock-up of the variant below.<\/p>\n Speaking about the album, Bannon had this to say: \u201cI think that realism is missing from a lot of modern music of any genre, but especially our genre. Things either go super raw and almost chaotic to the point where it\u2019s distracting, or bands take the life out of what they\u2019re doing by editing every aspect. Sometimes the perfect take is the one that has some wildness to it. It\u2019s not perfectly executed. There\u2019s a lot of powerful moments on this record and a lot of angry moments. The realism amplifies that.\u201d<\/p>\n The first single is the two-minute-and-22-second, album-opening title track, and this song kicks the album off with a ton of intensity. That\u2019s very promising, considering Bannon also had this to say about the album sequencing: \u201cIt does a thing that no other Converge record does\u2014it keeps ramping up. And that\u2019s definitely by design. Internally, we passed around dozens of ideas for sequencing because everyone interprets music differently and there\u2019s no right way of doing it. When we do that, we always joke that we all have to be equally unhappy. But this is the one that works.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe still identify this band as the outlet that\u2019s essential to our lives,\u201d Bannon concludes. \u201cWe give everything we have to it. Being past your average middle age, we\u2019re starting to see deeper than before into a variety of places. And I don\u2019t think that\u2019s specific to us. I think that\u2019s something that\u2019s utterly relatable.\u201d<\/p>\n Converge are headlining their own Saddest Day Festival<\/a> in Boston this December with Touch\u00e9 Amor\u00e9, Coalesce, The Hope Conspiracy, Full of Hell, Soul Glo, Year of The Knife, Stress Positions, and Wormwood.
