Then the universe reminded everyone that masks limit visibility. And we had him completely padded up, so this so when he gets stabbed by this collapsing umbrella, he would be protected. And of course, the stuntwoman, because the mask is so difficult to see through, stabs him right on the spot and misses the pad entirely. [Scene plays out] See, she&#8217;s right off the pad there. So it&#8217;s a very real reaction.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">That wince you see? Not method. Ulrich gets tagged right on the sensitive spot Craven describes. Yes, he\u2019s absolutely capable of selling agony on cue, but knowing the backstory adds a new layer of ouch to an already intense sequence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It also doubles as a mini stunt safety lesson. Even with planning\u2014pads, props, rehearsal\u2014things can go sideways when visibility is limited and adrenaline spikes. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/eagle-eyed-fan-spotted-og-000600345.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Ghostface\u2019s mask is a design icon;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">Ghostface\u2019s mask is a design icon<\/a>, sure, but it\u2019s also a tunnel. One inch off your mark becomes a direct hit. To Ulrich\u2019s credit, he recovered fast and stayed in character while the cameras were rolling. To the production\u2019s credit, the shot works, and no one walked away with lasting damage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">For the record, none of this changes <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/movies\/scream-matthew-lillard-shared-thoughts-fans-shipping-stu-billy-nickname\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Billy Loomis deserving what he got;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Billy Loomis deserving what he got<\/a>. But it does separate the character\u2019s fate from the actor\u2019s day at work.
