{"id":2168864,"date":"2025-11-20T18:06:31","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T18:06:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2168864"},"modified":"2025-11-20T18:06:31","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T18:06:31","slug":"hbo-confirms-major-news-about-future-of-game-of-thrones-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/hbo-confirms-major-news-about-future-of-game-of-thrones-shows\/","title":{"rendered":"HBO confirms major news about future of \u2018Game of Thrones\u2019 shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div data-article-body=\"true\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Dance of Dragons is on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">HBO confirmed Thursday that its hit fantasy series \u201cHouse of the Dragon\u201d will return when the third season premieres in summer 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Based on parts of Martin\u2019s 2018 book <i>Fire &amp; Blood<\/i>, the series is set nearly 200 years before the events of <i>Game of Thrones<\/i> and portrays the events leading up to the decline of House Targaryen, a devastating war of succession known as the \u201cDance of the Dragons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The first two seasons served as table setters with the war seemingly set to begin in mass in season 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">HBO also announced that HOTD has been renewed for season four, which will come in 2028.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The other \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d prequel series, the upcoming <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mlive.com\/news\/us-world\/2025\/10\/game-of-thrones-fans-discussing-surprising-detail-as-hbo-drops-trailer-for-new-series.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:\u201cA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,\u201d;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">\u201cA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,\u201d<\/a> was also renewed for second season before its first season debut on Jan. 18.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The second season is slated for 2027, meaning \u201cThrones\u201d fans will have new shows coming every year through 2028.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe are thrilled to be able to deliver new seasons of these two series for the next three years, for the legion of fans of the \u2018Game of Thrones\u2019 universe,\u201d said Francesca Orsi, the EVP of HBO programming and head of the cabler\u2019s drama series and films.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cTogether, \u2018House of the Dragon\u2019 and \u2018A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms\u2019 reveal just how expansive and richly imagined George R. R. Martin\u2019s universe continues to be. In January, I think audiences will be delighted by the inspiring underdog tale of Dunk and Egg that George and Ira Parker have captured so beautifully.
