HBO chief Casey Bloys says \u201cobviously\u201d George Clooney would be \u201cwelcome\u201d to join or guest on HBO Max emergency room drama The Pitt<\/em><\/a>. Clooney and The Pitt<\/em> star-writer Noah Wyle famously co-starred on NBC\u2019s ER<\/em>, which is equally obviously<\/em> an inspiration for the streaming series. The two shows share Dr. Wyle, an emergency room setting and a behind-the-scenes team led by\u00a0John Wells, R. Television over the likeness. Warner Bros. Discovery has been trying to get the suit dismissed before it gets off the ground, but as of a few weeks ago, the company has thus far been unsuccessful<\/a> \u2014 twice.<\/p>\n The Clooney-on-The-Pitt<\/em> fan-casting idea made some headlines last week when, speaking with Entertainment Tonight<\/em> at a screening of his upcoming movie, Jay Kelly<\/a><\/em>, Clooney said he would \u201cdo that in a heartbeat.\u201d But is that actually on the table?<\/p>\n \u201cI saw [that interview] as well,\u201d Bloys told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> on Thursday. \u201cObviously, sure, he\u2019s welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n Bloys added that nothing like that is in the works \u2014 yet.<\/p>\n At the Jay Kelly<\/em> event for the film in which Clooney stars opposite Adam Sandler, the actor said he has not spoken with Wyle about being on The Pitt<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat a beautiful show it is, and what a great success it has been,\u201d Clooney added. \u201cWhat a fun thing to have \u2014 [Wyle] kind of continuing on a tradition.\u201d<\/p>\n Though ER<\/em> was Clooney\u2019s true breakout vehicle, it was Wyle\u2019s show in terms of longevity. Wyle\u2019s John Carter was in the emergency room at County General Hospital in Chicago for most of the show\u2019s 15 seasons, whereas Clooney was on call for about half that.<\/p>\n The Pitt<\/em> was renewed for a second season in February.<\/p>\n On Dec. 1, The Pitt<\/em> (season one) will make its linear-television debut on TNT, which shares parent company Warner Bros. Discovery with HBO Max.
