Jenna Bush Hager tried to ask actress Minka Kelly about her love life this week \u2014 and it didn\u2019t go over well.<\/p>\n
Kelly stopped by \u201cToday with Jenna & Friends\u201d on Tuesday, Nov. 18, to promote her new Netflix movie, \u201cChampagne Problems,\u201d<\/a> which premiered on Wednesday, Nov. 19. After discussing the film, Bush Hager asked Kelly about her relationship with Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds.<\/p>\n \u201cSpeaking about the holidays and love and this romcom, you have a very big love in your life right now. Talk about your relationship \u2014 if you feel comfortable,\u201d Bush Hager said, stumbling over her words slightly.<\/p>\n Kelly blinked and looked taken aback by the question. Bush Hager then brought up Kelly\u2019s July Instagram tribute<\/a> to Reynolds in which she said the musician healed \u201cwounds in me he did not inflict – simply by being himself.\u201d<\/p>\n Kelly looked uncomfortable as Bush Hager repeated the words from her Instagram caption. <\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s beautiful,\u201d Bush Hager said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is beautiful. I feel very lucky. He\u2019s a really good guy,\u201d Kelly replied. <\/p>\n Bush Hager then laughed nervously and said, \u201cSounds like you don\u2019t want to talk about it. That\u2019s fine.\u201d <\/p>\n Her guest cohost, Olivia Munn, jumped in to save the day by saying she had a great experience working with Reynolds on an Imagine Dragons music video. Kelly then tied her relationship back to \u201cChampagne Problems.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s something sort of similar to the movie in the theme of love sort of hits you when you least expect it,\u201d Kelly said. <\/p>\n Viewers took to the YouTube comments section to react to the awkward exchange. <\/p>\n \u201cThank you Olivia for helping navigate that really awkward [comment], Jenna doesn\u2019t need to ask that to Minka a very private random prompt about her love life. And then say \u2018oh you don\u2019t want to talk about that?\u2019 That is possibly the worst comment an interviewer can say,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not the question that was the problem, it was the MANNER in which it was asked. Like give us all the tea. You see Olivia\u2019s reaction as soon as that question is asked. Kinda rude,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cMinka made it awkward when she could have made it work to align with her movie. Jenna didn\u2019t do anything wrong,\u201d another viewer commented, pointing out that the show \u201cgot an OK to show the picture\u201d of Kelly and Reynolds, so the actress likely wasn\u2019t totally blindsided.<\/p>\n Kelly and Reynolds have been dating since 2022.
