\n\tAfter two years and some unforeseen delays, the Kid Laroi<\/a> is finally ready to make a statement with what he tells Variety<\/em> <\/a>is a \u201cpersonal and emotional\u201d record. The 22 year-old Australian singer-songwriter announced his third studio album, \u201cBefore I Forget,\u201d will be out Jan. 9 via Columbia Records on Thursday morning. The reveal arrived alongside a new R&B-tinged single, \u201cA Perfect World.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tLaroi explains he had a different album that was completed and ready to hand in, however, \u201csonically and topically, it was extremely different than this one.\u201d He adds, \u201cIt didn\u2019t flow as well and I felt as if I grew out of it really quickly. I didn\u2019t feel comfortable releasing it. Sonically, [\u2018Before I Forget\u2019] a sadder, more emotional sounding album, I\u2019d say. Something about it also feels a bit nostalgic.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAbout three or so months ago, Laroi returned to the studio and made the majority of \u201cBefore I Forget.\u201d The only song he kept from the previous batch of songs is called \u201cI\u2019m So In Love With You.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI would say the biggest difference with this album process versus the scrapped one is that this one was made in much shorter time period with a lot more direction, and with a lot of the same crew,\u201d he says. \u201cI knew exactly what I wanted to say and how I felt. The scrapped album sounded like I was unsure. And I was.
