Carrie Underwood <\/a>is an eight-time Grammy winner, a three-time ACM entertainer of the year winner, an American Idol <\/em>judge, an actress and a businesswoman \u2014 and she\u2019s also a mom to two sons, Jacob and Isaiah. Thus, Underwood is well-acquainted with the scourge facing countless parents right now: Kids\u2019 obsession with the phrase \u201c6-7.\u201d The trend has become so popular, in fact, that it was named<\/a> Dictionary.com\u2019s<\/span> Word of the Year.<\/p>\n During a preview clip for American Idol<\/em>\u2018s upcoming season, Underwood greets a contestant on the show, Uzziah Hutchinson, who works with kids and references the popular catchphrase.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI bet you get a lot of funny stories,\u201d Underwood says, with the contestant replying, \u201cRight now, it\u2019s \u20186-7.’\u201d<\/p>\n Immediately, Underwood begins mimicking the hand gesture that goes with the catchphrase, which is wildly popular with school-age kids. \u201c6-7\u201d originally came from the song \u201cDoot Doot (6 7)\u201d by rapper Skrilla, in reference to NBA star LaMelo Ball\u2019s height, but it\u2019s mostly just become extremely popular for students to repeat \u2014 and an annoyance for many parents and teachers.<\/p>\n Fortunately, Underwood has a scheme to get the \u201c6-7\u201d craze to halt.<\/p>\n \u201cHere\u2019s how we stop that, Uzziah. I have the cure,\u201d Underwood says. \u201cEvery time the kids say \u20186-7,\u2019 we have to immediately say [singing<\/em>], \u20185-3-0-9,’\u201d she says \u2014 referencing Tommy Tutone\u2019s Billboard Hot 100 top five hit \u201c867-5309\/Jenny\u201d from 1982.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019ll work!\u201d Uzziah said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd if we all band together and do that, it will<\/em> stop,\u201d Underwood insists. \u201cIt\u2019s gonna take all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n Season 24 of American Idol <\/em>will launch on Jan. 26 \u2014 exactly 67 days from now \u2014 welcoming back Underwood as a judge alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.
