After nearly two decades, a long-forgotten chapter of \u201cFriends<\/a>\u201d is finally seeing the light of day \u2015 just in time for Thanksgiving<\/a>, fittingly. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Both seasons of the \u201cFriends\u201d spin-off series \u201cJoey<\/a>,\u201d centered on Matt LeBlanc\u2019s Joey Tribbiani, were officially made available to stream on YouTube<\/a> this week for the first time. The release includes Season 2\u2019s final eight episodes, which NBC never broadcast <\/a><\/span>after the show was officially canceled in 2006. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cJoey\u201d was created by Shana Goldberg-Meehan and Scott Silveri, both of whom worked on the original \u201cFriends\u201d over the course of that series\u2019 record-smashing 10-season run. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The show followed Joey Tribbiani after he relocated from New York to Los Angeles to focus on his acting career, and also starred \u201cSopranos\u201d actor Drea de Matteo<\/a> as Joey\u2019s sister, Gina, and Jennifer Coolidge<\/a> as Hollywood agent Bobbie Morganstern. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Critical reception to \u201cJoey\u201d at the time of its premiere was mixed. \u201cLet\u2019s be honest: \u2018Joey\u2019 is no \u2018Friends,\u2019\u201d Newsweek wrote<\/a>, before praising LeBlanc\u2019s \u201cadorably dense\u201d portrayal of the title character. Variety, meanwhile, called it<\/a> a \u201cpolished and likable half-hour.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Though \u201cJoey\u201d premiered to respectable ratings<\/a> in 2004, it failed to capture the zeitgeist like its predecessor, and was canceled amid its second season, with its final eight episodes left unaired in the U.S. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The first two episodes of \u201cJoey\u201d were uploaded<\/a> to the official \u201cFriends\u201d YouTube page in March, with the remaining 46 finally appearing online Wednesday. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter <\/a>in 2014, LeBlanc recalled how the failure of \u201cJoey\u201d prompted him to take an extended break from Hollywood. Following the show\u2019s 2006 cancellation, he didn\u2019t return to television until 2011, when he played a fictionalized version<\/a> of himself on the Showtime series \u201cEpisodes.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI did \u2018Joey\u2019 for two years, and that wasn\u2019t received with the same success as \u2018Friends\u2019 was. The pressure was incredible,\u201d he explained. \u201cThere was just no way, it couldn\u2019t perform like \u2018Friends\u2019 did. So when that was over, I said, \u2018I\u2019m going to take at least a year and not do anything,\u2019 and that turned into six years. I was enjoying myself … I really didn\u2019t think about work at all.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
