The much-anticipated second half to the John M. Chu-helmed film adaptation of the legendary musical \u2014 whose first half was greeted with robust box office and major acclaim, particularly for stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande \u2014\u00a0is out now, along with the 11-track soundtrack. Of particular note for fans in this back half is the introduction of two brand-new songs to the musical\u2019s world, penned by original composer Steven Schwartz: the bitter-but-resilient Erivo solo \u201cNo Place Like Home,\u201d and the soaring Grande showcase \u201cThe Girl in the Bubble.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\tStray Kids, DO IT<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\tIt\u2019s only been three months since Stray Kids released fourth Korean-language studio album Karma<\/em>, but the octet is back this week with new release DO IT<\/em>. The five-track release is being officially branded as a mixtape \u2014 the group\u2019s first since last year\u2019s Billboard 200-topping HOP<\/em> \u2014\u00a0and features two versions of its explosive title track. The big question for chartwatchers with DO IT<\/em>: Will this be the release that knocks Taylor Swift\u2019s The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>, currently in the midst of a six-week run atop the Billboard 200, from its No. 1 perch? History would certainly say not to bet against the group, who in seven charting releases has never missed the top spot. <\/p>\n\n\tTainy & Karol G, \u201c\u00dcnica\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\tAfter dropping her Tropicoqueta<\/em> album in June, Latin pop superstar Karol G is checking in at leat one more time before the end of the year, with \u201c\u00dcnica,\u201d her new collaboration with A-list producer Tainy. The song, whose title of course means \u201cUnique\u201d in Spanish, Karol recalls a night of passion that still burns singularly in her memory, casting any past or future lovers in its shadow. The song\u2019s gentle reggaet\u00f3n shuffle is augmented by some lovely harp plucking, and backing vocals that seem to be sighing in agreement. <\/p>\n\n\tBigXthaPlug, I Hope You\u2019re Happy (Deluxe<\/em>)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\tA couple days after making his CMA Awards debut, rapper BigXthaPlug is back with the deluxe edition to his first full-length country release, I Hope You\u2019re Happy<\/em>. The set adds three new songs: the hard-hearted \u201cCold\u201d with fellow recent country convert Post Malone (which feels like it could be \u201cAll the Way\u201d Pt. 2), the acoustic, fame-ruing \u201cHoly Ground\u201d alongside top 40 regular Jessie Murph, and the set\u2019s first totally solo track, triumphant closer \u201cFrom the Bottom\u201d \u2014\u00a0which drops most of the Nashville, but ends by reminding: \u201cI just made me some millions off country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\tThe Kid LAROI, \u201cA Perfect World\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\tWhat timing: Right as Tate McRae releases her So Close to What???<\/em> deluxe \u2014\u00a0with multiple Earth-salting tracks firmly turning her back on her past relationship \u2014 here comes The Kid LAROI, perhaps dreaming about a reconciliation: \u201cIn a perfect world\/ We\u2019d have it all figured out, baby, you would be my girl.\u201d It\u2019s not exactly a take-me-back song, but it\u2019s definitely an I\u2019ll-stick-around-just-in-case ballad, as LAROI reminds his ex, \u201cCoz I\u2019m still here, for what it\u2019s worth, baby.\u201d Hopefully he\u2019s not checking out Spotify\u2019s New Music Friday playlist this week.<\/p>\n
