Ariana Grande has tested positive for COVID.<\/p>\n
As the press and promo tour for \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d comes to an end, Grande posted an Instagram story on Thursday, featuring an image of her appearance on \u201cThe Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon\u201d earlier this week \u2014 along with a message that reads, \u201cmoments before Covid.\u201d<\/p>\n
More from Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n The news comes just days after Grande skipped doing interviews at the New York premiere of \u201cFor Good\u201d in solidarity with Cynthia Erivo, who wasn\u2019t feeling well and lost her voice.<\/p>\n As a result of her positive COVID diagnosis, Grande has had to\u00a0pull out of a\u00a0taped appearance with Erivo on \u201cThe Kelly Clarkson Show.\u201d (Erivo will appear alone for the segment.) Grande will also miss the Q&A discussions about \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d that were scheduled\u00a0in the next coming days.<\/p>\n Both Erivo and Grande tested positive for COVID at separate times while filming the first \u201cWicked\u201d movie. Erivo contracted the virus just days before filming \u201cDefying Gravity,\u201d while Grande was diagnosed shortly before shooting \u201cPopular.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d press tour has had a few hiccups since launching earlier this month. Grande was unable to make it to the first premiere in Brazil. During the Singapore festivities, a man rushed Grande after jumping the red carpet barricades. Erivo quickly sprung into action to push the man off her co-star.<\/p>\n Variety\u2019s Rebecca Rubin reported<\/a> on Wednesday that \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d is expected to earn $150 million to $180 million from 4,000 North American theaters in its first weekend of release. It\u2019s quite possible that the debut would rank as the year\u2019s biggest opening over April\u2019s \u201cA Minecraft Movie\u201d ($162 million) and May\u2019s \u201cLilo & Stitch\u201d remake ($146 million). \u201cWicked\u201d set a record for stage-to-screen adaptations with $112.5 million over the same pre-Thanksgiving frame.<\/p>\n At the New York premiere, as Grande was rushing down the carpet, she told me, \u201cWe are so grateful. We are great.
