Planta Industrial<\/a> has already made a giant splash<\/a>, winning new fans over with a punk-meets-metal-meets-dembow-meets-rap sound that is uniquely their own. The duo, comprised of Saso and akathedarknight, already had a banner year winning LAMC\u2019s 2025 Discovery Award, playing Summerstage and a riotous borough tour, and scoring major collabs (Saso was just featured on Rauw Alejandro\u2019s<\/a> album). But they\u2019re capping it all off with one more wallop of music, this time through their EP Punk Wave Sin Barreras Volume 1: Conoci\u00e9ndonos<\/em>.<\/p>\n The new project touches on a range of genres and makes several nods to the Latino cultural memory of the Nineties and early aughts. \u201cIf you grew up Hispanic in the U.S., you probably remember the iconic Ingl\u00e9s Sin Barreras course,\u201d Saso and akathedarknight said in a statement. \u201cWith these volumes, we\u2019re bringing back the sound of our formative years \u2014 when bachata, merengue, metal, punk, rap, and electronic music all lived side by side. It\u2019s an homage to our upbringing, a locrio of sounds and influences shaped by life between the Bronx and the Dominican Republic.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n The EP includes songs that already have become viral juggernauts, like \u201cAbnormales\u201d and \u201cThat\u2019s My Bitch\u201d \u2014 the latter was their first big track together that marked a new era for the musicians, who went to high school together but had been working separate careers. \u201cWe wanted to create something unlike what was currently out there and we had a streak of genius,\u201d the band noted.<\/p>\n Other tracks pack in a ton of New York pride and reflect their upbringing in the city: \u201cArthur Ave,\u201d \u201cYou NOT From,\u201d \u201cNEW YORK!!,\u201d and \u201cTeteo In The Bronx.\u201d (\u201cIt is our anthem, representing our culture and lifestyle,\u201d Planta Industrial says about that last one.)<\/p>\n The band has been teasing even more music coming soon, plus more shows.
