Queen Elizabeth II<\/a> used to have a three-word compliment for the Princess of Wales<\/a>, according to Prince Harry<\/a>. Princess Catherine is known to have formed a close bond with the late monarch<\/a>, who took her under her wing, acting as a mentor for the future Queen.<\/p>\n

While the late Queen was thought to be supportive of many of Catherine\u2019s initiatives and decisions throughout her royal career, there was also another aspect she was a big fan of – her long, brunette locks. According to the Duke of Sussex, the late Queen used to like it when women let their hair down and was especially fond of Catherine’s curls.<\/p>\n

He wrote in his memoir, Spare, of the moment Meghan Markle<\/a> met King Charles and Queen Camilla: \u201cMeg looked beautiful and I told her so. She was wearing a black-and-white dress, with a full skirt, patterned with flowers, and when I put my hand on her back, I could feel how delicate the material was.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He added: \u201cHer hair was down because I suggested she wear it that way. Pa likes it when women wear their hair down. Granny too. She often commented on ‘Kate’s beautiful mane.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Catherine\u2019s relationship with the late Queen was explored in a Channel 5 documentary, which was released last year and was titled: Kate and The Queen: A Special Relationship.<\/p>\n

The Daily Mail\u2019s Richard Kay said in it: \u201cI don’t think she really trusted anyone on first impression, we’re all performing the same show, the show is supporting the Queen.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut with Kate and the Queen it grew deeper than that, there was a real grandmotherly affection between the two.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Author Ingrid Seward said: \u201cI think the Queen saw her strength and saw that she is a caring person who had this amazing affiliation to duty.<\/p>\n
