It takes an approach to telling a #MeToo story that certainly won&#8217;t be for everyone, but it&#8217;s choices are distinct enough to make a movie worth discussing, which is an achievement in its own right. Also, the trio of actors at the center of it are uniformly stellar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>More from Gold Derby<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong><em>If I Had Legs I&#8217;d Kick You<\/em> (VOD):<\/strong> Savvy Oscar predictors will not miss <strong>Mary Bronstein<\/strong>&#8216;s acidic and funny take on motherhood, which has a performance from <strong>Rose Byrne that<\/strong> could very easily make it into Best Actress next year. It also cannot be understate the degree to which <strong>Conan O&#8217;Brien<\/strong> is in this movie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong><em>Train Dreams<\/em> (Netflix):<\/strong> There isn&#8217;t enough <strong>Joel Edgerton<\/strong> in the world, and if he isn&#8217;t directing another sicko thriller like <em>The Gift<\/em> (which he absolutely should do), at least he&#8217;s got a great starring role in what is perhaps Netflix&#8217;s strongest awards contender this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong><em>Megadoc<\/em> (VOD):<\/strong> <strong>Mike Figgis<\/strong>&#8216; documentary about the making of <strong>Francis Ford Coppola<\/strong>&#8216;s <em>Megalopolis<\/em>, much like its subject, is something so rare that it demands the attention of every serious movie love.
