Without a safety net, many are forced to turn to their fanbase for help when times get tough. Case in point: Iconic ’80s singer Dale Bozzio<\/strong>, who co-founded Missing Persons and worked with legendary musician Frank Zappa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Now 70 years old, Bozzio is in desperate need of medical treatment \u2014 and this week, the official Missing Persons Instagram account shared a plea from her son Troy McKenzie<\/strong> along with a sweet black-and-white photo of the mother and son.<\/p>\n “Hi everyone,” McKenzie wrote.<\/p>\n “Dale Bozzio, lead singer of the 80\u2019s new wave band Missing Persons, is a lot of things to the world: singer, songwriter, rock star, fashion icon. To me, she is just my dear mother.”<\/p>\n “My name is Troy McKenzie, and I am Dale\u2019s son,” he continued. “Whether you are a close friend or a lifelong fan, I am humbly asking for your help on behalf of Dale Bozzio, my mom. She\u2019s an amazing person, so kind and compassionate. We have the same birthday. I\u2019ve always had a special connection with her. So it saddens me deeply to see what she\u2019s going through.”<\/p>\n McKenzie went on to explain that Bozzio is “suffering from severe capsular contracture.”<\/p>\n “She needs surgery as soon as possible to remove her silicone breast implants,” McKenzie wrote. “This condition causes excessive scar tissue that hardens around the breast, pain, tightness, discomfort, and distorted or unnatural breast shape. It has left her in constant pain, and it is very difficult for her to perform, record, or earn a living. After removal, she will need reconstructive surgery and extensive recovery.”<\/p>\n According to McKenzie, the “goal is to raise $35,000 for the surgery and post-op recovery, which could take up to 3 months.”<\/p>\n “It is not covered by insurance,” he added. “Every dollar donated goes directly to Dale\u2019s medical treatments and healing so that we can get her well and back out there rocking for you. Your generous donation would provide much-needed financial relief and peace of mind, allowing Dale to focus solely on recovery. Please do what you can. If you are unable to donate, you can still be a huge help by simply sharing this story. Any help will be immensely appreciated by Dale. Thank you so much for your consideration and support!” McKenzie concluded, sharing a link to Bozzio’s GoFundMe<\/a> page.<\/p>\n Fans were quick to express their concern for Bozzio, with one writing, “Just donated. Dale, you are a legend. Someone close to me suffered through the same thing and recovered very well. I wish the same for you.”<\/p>\n “I pray for you to reach your goal soon, God bless Dale,” added a second person.<\/p>\n In her memoir Life Is So Strange, Bozzio wrote about developing Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disorder, after getting breast implants.<\/p>\n “I was getting fame and I thought if I had perfect boobs, the world would love me more,” Bozzio told North Coast Music Beat<\/a>.<\/p>\n “Little did I know, that those little boobies would make me really sick,” she continued.\u00a0“I\u2019ve had them taken out and put them back in again.\u00a0Now I live with them.\u00a0I don\u2019t want to regret it because I was really happy with them for a while. Time goes on and things wear out, like a car.
