The Irish-American designer best known for his work in British and Irish fashion and as the personal designer for the late Princess of Wales, Diana, has died at the age of 80.<\/p>\n
The designer, Paul Costelloe died following a short illness, his family said in a statement on Saturday according to The Independent<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Paul Costelloe following a short illness,\u201d they said. \u201cHe was surrounded by his wife and seven children and passed peacefully in London.\u201d<\/p>\n The designer was born in Dublin, Ireland, where his father ran a business creating raincoats, the BBC<\/a> wrote.<\/p>\n After studying at the Grafton Academy of Fashion Design, he moved to Paris and took a course at the Chamber Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris.<\/p>\n Come 1979, he made his own label named Paul Costelloe Collections, which was presented at London Fashion Week, as well as in Paris, Milan and New York.<\/p>\n Costelloe was appointed the personal designer to Diana in 1983 and continued working with her until she died in 1997, the BBC said.<\/p>\n Additionally, the artist has been collaborating with the Irish retail chain Dunnes Stores for the past 10 years, selling a collection of homewares, menswear and womenswear, according to the Irish Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n Costelloe\u2019s last show for winter 2025 was staged in Dublin\u2019s City Hall in September, but he was unable to attend due to illness, Irish Times added.<\/p>\n Read the original article on MassLive<\/a>.
