While Fraser played Rick again in <em>The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor<\/em> in 2008, Weisz opted not to return and was replaced by Maria Bello.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, AKA Radio Silence, are helming the new film. The duo is best known for directing <em>Ready or Not<\/em> and <em>Scream<\/em> (2022). David Coggeshall, who wrote<em> Orphan: First Kill,<\/em> will pen the script. The project is still in early stages of development, so it does not yet have a release date.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\">Brendan Fraser breaks his silence on <em>The Mummy 4<\/em><\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Fraser had a huge comeback in recent years, winning an Academy Award for Best Actor for the 2022 film, <em>The Whale<\/em>. In a recent interview with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/brendan-fraser-rental-family-interview-1d3895901593b28eccd6547be8ffbfcc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Associated Press;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><em>Associated Press<\/em><\/a>, Fraser finally addressed the <em>Mummy<\/em> news.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The one I wanted to make was never made,&#8221; Fraser revealed. &#8220;The third one was a model of \u2026 how can I say this to the <em>AP<\/em> reporter? NBC had the rights to broadcast the Olympics that year. So they put two together, and we went to China.
