Sam Elliott and Billy Bob Thornton play father and son in season 2 of \u201cLandman,\u201d<\/a> but what\u2019s their age difference in real life?<\/p>\n Elliott, 81, and Thornton, 70, are just 11 years apart<\/b>. During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Thornton, who plays Tommy Norris in \u201cLandman,\u201d addressed their small age gap.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can look through movie history, and fathers or mothers have been close in age [to their children]. It\u2019s just a thing you do because you\u2019re actors portraying someone,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you put yourself in the right headspace, I would find a way to play Sam\u2019s older brother. They would say, \u2018But wait a minute, you guys are 11 years apart.\u2019 \u2026 But yeah, we never think about that. \u2026 It\u2019s all in the way we portray the characters and [series creator] Taylor [Sheridan\u2019s] vision.\u201d<\/p>\n Elliott\u2019s T.L. Norris was introduced to \u201cLandman\u201d viewers during the season 2 premiere, which aired on Sunday, Nov. 16. He and Thornton didn\u2019t share any scenes during the episode. T.L., who is currently living in an assisted living facility, got the news that his wife, Dorothy, had passed away. <\/p>\n When an employee at the facility told T.L. that he\u2019ll see his late wife again some day, T.L. replied, \u201cIf I do, that means I\u2019m in hell, too.\u201d<\/p>\n Elliott signed a two-year \u201cLandman\u201d contract, which means he should be playing T.L. in season 3 as well. We\u2019re all kind of looking toward April and May when we start shooting season 3,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Thornton, for his part, signed on for four or five years of \u201cLandman.\u201d He told THR that he wants to do the show \u201cas long as I\u2019m able\u201d or \u201cuntil the story runs out.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cLandman\u201d centers on Thornton\u2019s character, Tommy, a landman and fixer for M-Tex Oil.
