Meghan Markle once likened her experience at Kensington Palace to living in “a kind of prison”, according to a Royal expert.<\/p>\n

In his book “Kensington Palace”, Royal biographer Tom Quinn claimed the “initial glamour” of Royal life quickly faded for the former American actress<\/a>, leaving her “horrified” at being routinely chauffeured from the residence to various official engagements.<\/p>\n

However, this arrangement proved short-lived, as she and Prince Harry<\/a> relocated to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor just months afterward, a wedding gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II.<\/a><\/p>\n

A builder working on the property told Mr Quinn it underwent major renovations to resemble a “Californian condo”. Meghan reportedly expressed frustration with the living situation, declaring: “I don’t want to retire to rural obscurity”.<\/p>\n

A source informed Mr Quinn: “Meghan realised that living there would be like living in the Russian steppe.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As King Charles attempted to relocate his brother Andrew from Royal Lodge in Windsor, reports emerged that he had proposed Frogmore Cottage as an alternative residence.<\/p>\n

However, Andrew reportedly viewed this as an unacceptable “demotion” and declined to relocate there.<\/p>\n

Harry and Meghan now reside with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in Montecito on California<\/a>‘s Santa Barbara South Coast.<\/p>\n

Their property is estimated to be worth approximately $30million, according to reports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
