Noah Centineo is heavily considering joining the highly anticipated Gundam film along with Sydney Sweeney. Interestingly enough, the film is set to cover a purely original plotline and will take place outside the anime’s normal canon. According to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Sweeney is even heavily involved in the casting of whoever is to act beside her in the upcoming film. If Centineo is chosen for the role, he would be acting as the Romeo to Sweeney’s Juliet in an intergalactic sci-fi version of the Shakespeare plot featuring giant metal robots designed for pure destruction.<\/p>\n

The original anime first aired in 1979 and is one of the longest-running series continuing today. It has had several spin-offs and continuations, so it’s not surprising that the studio couldn’t choose one singular plot to follow. However, many fans are wondering how this Romeo and Juliet plot will play out. Will it be similar to Shiro and Aina’s relationship in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, or will it feature an entirely different dynamic? Either way, it appears that Sweeney will get to make the final call concerning his co-star.<\/p>\n

Sydney Sweeney is on a somewhat of a run, landing several iconic roles after her breakout performance in the show Euphoria. She has starred in Anyone But You, Madame Web, and, most recently, Christy. Hopefully, this new show gives Sweeney an opportunity to demonstrate her sci-fi chops while maintaining the romance, which is central to the plot.<\/p>\n

One of the reasons Sweeney is likely so involved in casting is that she needs to be sure there is realistic romantic tension between the two. If she doesn’t feel a genuine connection with her co-star, there is little to no chance that they will develop a connection on screen. That said, some fans are somewhat nervous about Sweeney having such a large creative say on the upcoming film. Gundam is one of the most popular anime franchises of all time, and doing the live-action incorrectly could be nothing short of disastrous. Especially when series like Netflix’s One Piece have proven that it can be done correctly.<\/p>\n

As of now, the main candidate for the other lead role is Noah Centineo. He has starred in several notable films since The Fosters and is even in talks to play a younger version of Rambo in a prequel film. Given his incredible performance To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before it’s unsurprising that he is one of the last people in consideration to act alongside Sweeney.<\/p>\n

In the end, this Gundam film is incredibly important to many people. So far, the only confirmed cast member is Sydney Sweeney, who has been given somewhat creative control over casting her co-star. As of now, Noah Centineo is the top choice to fill the spot, but who knows what could happen between now and filming.<\/p>\n
