Udo Kier<\/a>, a longtime actor who is known for appearing several popular cult films such as \u201cAndy Warhol\u2019s Frankenstein,\u201d died Sunday morning at the age of 81.<\/p>\n

Kier also appeared in several major films such as \u201cBlade,\u201d \u201cMy Own Private Idaho\u201d and \u201cMelancholia.\u201d No cause of death has been reported.<\/p>\n

According to Entertainment Weekly<\/a>, Kier\u2019s career covered more than six decades and included more than 200 roles in films and television. Variety reports<\/a> that he worked with Warhol, Lars von Trier and even appeared in a music video with Madonna.<\/p>\n

According to Variety, his breakout roles were in \u201cFlesh for Frankenstein\u201d in 1973 and \u201cBlood for Dracula\u201d in 1974. Both were directed by Paul Morrissey and produced by Warhol.<\/p>\n

Variety describes the films as \u201csubversive, sultry reimaginings of the classic Hollywood monsters, with Kier bringing a haunting yet comically inept spin on the title characters.”<\/p>\n

Kier was born in Cologne, Germany. He and his mother survived the bombing of the hospital in which he was born near the end of World War II, according to his IMDb.com biography.<\/p>\n

He moved to London when he was 18 years old and he soon landed his first role as a gigolo in \u201cRoad To Saint Tropez.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to his biography, he is best known for his many collaborations with von Trier, including \u201cMedea\u201d, \u201cEuropa\u201d, \u201cBreaking The Waves\u201d, \u201cDancer In The Dark\u201d, \u201cDogville\u201d, \u201cManderlay\u201d, \u201cMelancholia\u201d, \u201cNymphomaniac (Vol. II)\u201d and \u201cThe Kingdom.\u201d<\/p>\n

His roles in major films include \u201cAce Ventura: Pet Detective,\u201d \u201cJohnny Mnemonic,\u201d \u201cBarb Wire,\u201d \u201cArmageddon\u201d and \u201cEnd Of Days.\u201d<\/p>\n
