Played to perfection by William Fichtner, this new Anne Rice Immortal Universe vampire gave us the perfect balance of terrifying and vulnerable, manipulative and charming. In short, we absolutely loved him. In season one of the <em>Talamasca<\/em>, we learned a good deal about Jasper\u2019s history and how he became a vampire, a sad tale. But one thing we didn\u2019t find out in <em>Talamasca<\/em>\u2018s first season is who exactly made Jasper into a vampire. Jasper tells us only that, after years of looking, he eventually found the dark gift. Curious about our new fav, we at <em>Nerdist<\/em> <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nerdist.com\/article\/talamasca-series-creators-john-lee-hancock-mark-lafferty-interview\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:asked Talamasca\u2018s creators;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">asked <em>Talamasca<\/em>\u2018s creators<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nerdist.com\/article\/talamasca-series-william-fichtner-vampire-jasper-interview\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:the man himself, William Fichtner,;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">the man himself, William Fichtner,<\/a> about who might have turned Jasper into an immortal. We try to stay cognizant and are aware of different characters from Anne Rice books, lore, canon, et cetera, not being tied to them, but just being aware of \u2019em. And, yeah, so we have a general idea. We haven\u2019t thrown that out yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It sounds like who turned Jasper into a vampire is at the very least not an insignificant question. In fact, it\u2019s one the creators have talked extensively about from a macro and micro level. But John Lee Hancock\u2019s note about being very cognizent of Anne Rice\u2019s characters as they discuss the question of Jasper\u2019s maker in the <em>Talamasca<\/em> writers\u2019 room truly seems to be a huge hint that, in fact, Jasper was turned into a vampire by a vampire who has already appeared in Anne Rice\u2019s lore before. We\u2019ll call that fascinating.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Executive producer Mark Lafferty added to the thought, sharing of Jasper\u2019s turning, \u201cAnd I will say one thing we do know that we\u2019ve talked about, and this comes out in just a few little clauses or lines in <em>Talamasca<\/em> 1.04, is that Jasper had kind of this long journey on foot from South America through Central America and then into Texas. And so it very well may be that he was made into a vampire in Texas. It doesn\u2019t seem like Anne Rice had any vampires that were overtly from Texas in her books, so that clue is a dead end to helping us crack the code of the identity of Jasper\u2019s maker. But we know that vampires move around all the time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Meanwhile, Jasper\u2019s actor, William Fichtner, expressed that Jasper\u2019s maker wasn\u2019t the focus of season one of <em>Talamasca<\/em>. But should the show receive a season two, it would definitely be an interesting area to explore. Fichtner noted, \u201cI have some ideas about Jasper\u2019s maker, but it\u2019s not really been part of our journey. In episode four, Jasper explains to Guy how he came to be when he was in his youth, in that when he was in a coven, some were vampires, some were not. But a lot of times on a first season of a show like this, you focus on the journey of the aspects that are happening in the storytelling of this. Right. The backstory being who would\u2019ve been that person? He refers to it. But I don\u2019t know if we\u2019re lucky enough to do a second season.
