Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/a> have released a new message through their Archewell Foundation to discuss “what it means to grow up in the digital age”. Harry and Meghan, who have explained why their two children’s safety is the motivation behind their work, are continuing to shape digital spaces to make them healthier.<\/a><\/p>\n

Their message read: “Now in its third year, The Archewell Foundation\u2019s Insight Sessions continue to surface urgent truths about what it means to grow up in the digital age<\/a>. This year, we spoke with 106 young people aged 10 to 25 across Australia, Canada, Panama, the United Kingdom, and the United States.<\/p>\n

“Their words\u2014sometimes hopeful, often conflicted, always honest\u2014reveal a generation navigating unprecedented complexity”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The couple’s statement went on: “Yet when asked to describe that same digital experience, they reached for words like ‘overwhelming,’ ‘confusing,’ and ‘overstimulating’.<\/p>\n

“One American young person captured it perfectly: ‘There\u2019s so much stuff that\u2019s being pushed on you that you don\u2019t know what\u2019s true and what\u2019s not\u2026 we live in a landscape where we have to second-guess everything constantly.’<\/p>\n

“This isn\u2019t a generation asking to abandon technology. Instead, they\u2019re asking leaders to recognize how difficult it is to manage life in this environment and to provide tools and guidance that help them not only cope, but shape digital spaces into something healthier and safer.”<\/p>\n

Harry and Meghan also discussed AI in their statement, adding: “AI has become non-negotiable in young people\u2019s lives. Nearly half identified personalized learning as AI\u2019s most positive use, praising its ability to act as a free, accessible tutor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“But overdependence emerged as their top concern. Older participants expressed relief they developed critical thinking skills before AI arrived, worrying younger generations won\u2019t have that foundation. Manipulated content ranked as their second-greatest fear. Young women described deepfakes as ‘terrifying’ and ‘the scariest thing ever’.<\/p>\n

“The rise of AI-generated misinformation threatens to corrode trust in news, politics, and public life at a moment when these young people are already exhausted from constantly questioning what\u2019s real.”<\/p>\n

The statement concluded: “The solutions are within reach, especially when we recognize that young people aren\u2019t the problem to be solved, they\u2019re essential partners in building the digital world we all deserve. The Archewell Foundation thanks all of the partners and organizations that made this report possible.”<\/p>\n

The couple appeared at the Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Gala in New York last month<\/a>. During their stage appearance, Harry said: “As our network grew, we’ve seen the full scope of what we’re facing. We have witnessed the explosion of unregulated artificial intelligence, heard more and more stories from heartbroken families, and watched parents all over the world become increasingly concerned about their children’s digital lives.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
