Online<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n Drew Barrymore<\/a> is giving a glimpse into her health.<\/span><\/p>\n The talk show host shared that she had recently had a breast cancer “scare” after getting her annual mammogram<\/span>, revealing what it was like to have to go through additional tests. <\/span><\/p>\n “This was the thing I wanted to risk talking about on this show because I recently had a scare,” Barrymore explained on the Nov. 3 episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show<\/a>.” “I’m completely fine, but I did get a bad mammogram and I got taken into that room.”<\/span><\/p>\n She added, “Then I had an emergency biopsy and I waited those five days.”<\/span><\/p>\n Her guest <\/span>Tig Notaro, who is a breast cancer survivor, noted, “It’s a long wait.”<\/span><\/p>\n Over the years, Barrymore has been a major proponent of cancer screenings, even filming herself getting a mammogram last October to help viewers “overcome their fears” of getting checked. <\/span><\/p>\n Donning a hospital gown, the “Never Been Kissed” actress announced<\/a>, “I’m about to put my breasts in a machine known as a mammogram.” A technician guided Barrymore as she underwent the X-ray process, explaining each step to the audience.<\/span><\/p>\n READ<\/b>:<\/a> Why Katie Thurston is ‘very optimistic’ for 6-month scan amid breast cancer battle<\/a><\/p>\n Along with education, the 50-year-old has been sure to highlight survivors, like Notaro and <\/span>Hoda Kotb. <\/span><\/p>\n “I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I realized in that moment that it could all be over,” the former “Today” host \u2014 who was diagnosed in 2007 \u2014 told<\/a> Barrymore in September. “I went through the surgeries and did all the things. When it was over, I woke up with this epiphany. I got four words: You can’t scare me. Like, what am I afraid of?”<\/span><\/p>\n
