Hoda Kotb<\/a> and her daughter made the most of her brother\u2019s birthday both together and apart.<\/p>\n The former Today<\/a> anchor and her kids<\/a> \u2014 Haley, 8, and Hope, 6 \u2014 kicked off her brother Adel\u2019s birthday with a celebratory video call, which she shared via Instagram<\/a> on Saturday, November 22. Hope kicked off the call by shaking a pair of pom poms in front of the camera before pulling them away to reveal Kotb in a birthday hat, blowing a kazoo, and Haley holding a sign which read, \u201cHappy B Day We Love U Adel.\u201d<\/p>\n From the other end of the call, Adel, Kotb\u2019s mother, Sameha, and more family members smiled at the surprise. \u201cHappy Birthday!\u201d Kotb exclaimed.<\/p>\n Kotb\u2019s post featured more snaps of Adel and their family, including their older sister, Hala. \u201cHappy bday lil bro!!!! Xoxo,\u201d she captioned the upload.<\/p>\n Fans sent Adel their own birthday wishes in the post\u2019s comments. \u201cYou look so happy Hoda!!! Her father, Abdel Kader Kotb, died when she was in college. \u201cI always wanted to hear the words from him, \u2018I\u2019m proud of you,’\u201d Kotb told Meet the Press<\/a>\u2018 Kristen Welker<\/a> in an August interview, per Today.com<\/a>. \u201cAnd I think now, looking at what I\u2019ve built based on the foundation he built for me, like, this is all because he and my mom built this for me, this foundation.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cI think he\u2019d be incredibly proud of me as a mother. Like, I did that. I think he would be super proud of me that I took a risk in my professional life, too, and tried something new because that\u2019s what he did. He took risks.
