Veteran actor Udo Kier died on Nov. 23, 2025, at the age of 81. Video game CEO and game creator Hideo Kojima said he was shocked to hear the news. Kier had been slated to appear in <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cgmagonline.com\/news\/hideo-kojima-teases-brand-new-project-od\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Kojima\u2019s upcoming Xbox horror game OD;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Kojima\u2019s upcoming Xbox horror game <em>OD<\/em><\/a>. His partner, artist Delbert McBride, shared the news of his death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Kier was born as Udo Kierspe in Cologne, Germany, in October 1944. When he was 18, he moved to London, before going on to star in films including <em>Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Armageddon<\/em>, and <em>Blade<\/em>. These were all of the first films I saw Kier in, along with <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cgmagonline.com\/articles\/editorals\/ranking-the-halloween-franchise\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Halloween (2007);elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Halloween (2007)<\/a>.<\/em> Other than <em>OD, <\/em>the late star has left his mark playing the notable character Yuri in the <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cgmagonline.com\/review\/game\/command-conquer-remastered-collection-review\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Command &amp; Conquer: Red Alert;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Command &amp; Conquer: Red Alert<\/a> <\/em>games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt all happened far too suddenly,\u201d\u00a0Kojima wrote on <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN\/status\/1992785286712209409\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:social media;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">social media<\/a>. \u201cBecause of the strike, we weren\u2019t able to shoot \u2018OD\u2019 for a long time, and we were forced to reschedule to next year. Even during that time, Udo and I exchanged emails frequently. We stayed in close contact. When we met in Milan at the end of September, he told me how much he was looking forward to the shoot starting up again next year. With Kier\u2019s passing, it is unclear whether he will be recast in the game or if his role will be removed from the project. Either way, Kojima will probably honour him in the best way possible, and with consent from his family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Among the more than 200 films he starred in, Kier\u2019s breakout collaborations with Andy Warhol are among his most celebrated. Kier starred in the titular roles in both 1973\u2019s <em>Flesh for Frankenstein<\/em> and 1974\u2019s <em>Blood for Dracula<\/em>.
