It\u2019s no secret that spending the holidays alone \u2014 for lack of a better word \u2014 sucks. Don\u2019t you wish Santa could bring you someone nice under the tree?<\/p>\n

Singer-songwriters Robbie Kaye, who is based in Santa Barbara, and Emily Zuzik (from Los Angeles) certainly have, and they\u2019ve joined forces to create a playful and modern Christmas single, \u201cOh Oh Santa<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The collaboration, released on November 14, was recorded at Hidden City Studios in Santa Barbara with esteemed producer Elliott Lanam, whose work with artists like Katy Perry and the Beach Boys brings a polished edge to the song.<\/p>\n

Combining the Christmas charm we all love with a contemporary twist, the song came together effortlessly, according to the duo.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt just seemed like everything happened so intrinsically that before we knew it, we had a song,\u201d Kaye said. \u201cIt was brought up once, then we just ran with it.\u201d Zuzik added that the process felt almost supernatural, with melody and lyrics flowing seamlessly between them.<\/p>\n

Both genre-defying musicians are no strangers to writing, producing, and composing. Kaye, a former songwriter for Warner Chappell Music, has had her songs featured on national radio and television.<\/p>\n

Zuzik\u2019s music has appeared in numerous film and television projects, including Smallville, Roswell, New Mexico, and MTV\u2019s hit Catfish<\/em>. So \u2014 when it came to creating \u201cOh Oh Santa,\u201d things came together effortlessly.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a very synergetic collaboration, and we would run with each other\u2019s ideas,\u201d Kaye said. \u201cIn some collaborations, there are a lot of power struggles. That was not the case with us at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

She explained that the artistic process can be challenging, and that changes to lyrics, tone, or style are sometimes necessary to create a tighter, more cohesive final piece. Still, those adjustments are straightforward, making the process faster \u2014 and more fun.<\/p>\n

The music video was shot at Kaye\u2019s home, capturing the duo\u2019s playful, improvisational energy and mirroring their collaborative style<\/p>\n

\u201cI had never even been to Robbie\u2019s house, so I wasn\u2019t sure what the setup was going to be \u2026 and we just brought in props and ideas on the spot,\u201d Zuzik said. \u201cIt was very kamikaze style, but effortless \u2014 both of us just throwing ideas up there and seeing what sticks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Choreography was created on the spot, teaching two non-dancers the designated moves, and Kaye\u2019s husband played the cameo of an \u201cunwanted partner.\u201d<\/p>\n

The playful, off-the-cuff approach extended to every element of the video, from props to performances. \u201cWe just threw ideas at each other and went with whatever felt fun in the moment,\u201d Kaye said. \u201cIt was about capturing the joy and energy of the song.\u201d<\/p>\n

And isn\u2019t the whole point of music authenticity? \u201cOh Oh Santa\u201d reflects the duo\u2019s collaborative philosophy: trust the process, embrace ideas freely, and focus on what\u2019s genuine.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the duo hopes to collaborate again. \u201cWhen the right things come my way, I\u2019ll be smart enough to say yes,\u201d Kaye said.<\/p>\n

The song has already been picked up on streaming playlists and shared widely on social media, giving the duo an early sense of how well it\u2019s connecting with listeners, and the momentum they expect to build in the weeks ahead<\/p>\n

\u201cOh Oh Santa\u201d is available to stream on Spotify, perfect for anyone in the mood for festive cheer or some lyrical empowerment.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody\u2019s making their wish list for the Christmas season \u2026 maybe it\u2019s as simple as, \u2018I just want to find a normal, nice guy\u2019,\u201d Zuzik said.<\/p>\n
