It was known that when things were pulled that they may not be returned.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But this does not appear to be an actual royal protocol.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Two sources tell us she wound up with the dress. <span class=\"credit\">Ramona Rosales for Variety<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A different source pushed back on the regal tale by telling us no one was ever told of this rule. \u201cIt\u2019s a fib!\u201d insisted our source.<\/p>\n<p>In October, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/10\/14\/style\/meghan-markle-wears-chanel-for-a-date-night-with-prince-harry-at-chez-margaux-in-new-york-city\/\">Markle was spotted<\/a> in a black-and-white, tweed strapless midi dress designed by Chanel during a date night with Prince Harry at private NYC club Chez Margaux. <\/p>\n<p>She had previously worn the designer piece for a\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thecut.com\/article\/meghan-markle-profile-interview.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">photoshoot in 2022 for The Cut<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Markle was recently spotted in a Chanel dress from a Cut cover shoot. <span class=\"credit\">BlayzenPhotos \/ BACKGRID<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When it comes to this supposed green gown-gate, a source tells us no one is spiraling \u2014 but calls such a move, \u201ca weird thing to do without asking, since I doubt they would have said no.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fashion source explains, \u201cIt\u2019s not uncommon if talent loves something from a shoot that they ask to keep it or purchase it. They would normally\u00a0be offered a discount if its something the designer can\u2019t part with or a sample that needs to be returned.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The Cut cover was also in 2022. <span class=\"credit\">Campbell Addy \/ The Cut<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In 2024, journalist Vanessa Grigoriadis claimed on Andrew Gold\u2019s\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/exclusive-meghan-markle-new-stealing-allegations\/id1515932214?i=1000650011747\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cHeretics\u201d podcast<\/a>\u00a0that the former royal took \u201ca lot of stuff\u201d after she \u201cwore it in a very high-profile photo shoot.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s shocking about hearing these kinds of alleged stories is that somebody who is living in a $15 million plus mansion in Montecito, who\u2019s just had $100 million deals, would care enough to take home some jewelry and clothes from a photoshoot that she can clearly afford,\u201d Grigoriadis, a contributing writer at the New York Times Magazine and Vanity Fair, said on the podcast.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Markle\u2019s holiday special comes out Dec. 3. <span class=\"credit\">Netflix<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Prince Harry also appears in the teaser for the show. <span class=\"credit\">Netflix<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We have reached out to reps for Markle.
