Alongside the hype, numerous rumours and media reports began circulating that the film is inspired by the real-life story of Major Mohit Sharma<\/a>, a decorated Indian Army officer who went undercover as Iftikhar Bhatt to infiltrate Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s.\n<\/p>\n Many speculated that Ranveer Singh\u2019<\/a>s character in the film is based on him, which further heightened audience excitement.\n<\/p>\n However, filmmaker Aditya Dhar has officially denied these claims. He clarified that the movie is not based on Major Mohit Sharma.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n In response to the rumours, Madhur Sharma, Major Mohit Sharma\u2019s brother, publicly tagged Aditya Dhar on X (Twitter) today, seeking a direct confirmation about whether Ranveer Singh\u2019s role is indeed linked to his late brother.\n<\/p>\n He asked the director, \u201cA credible media house is expected to report facts and not mere *speculations “.
