Last night, De La Soul<\/a> were the musical guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em>, where they played two tracks from their new album, Cabin in the Sky<\/a>.<\/em> After leading the crowd through a chant, Posdnuos rapped his way through \u201cRun It Back!!,\u201d while Maseo oversaw the production boards. A horn section then walked onstage to segue into \u201cThe Package<\/a>,\u201d with De La Soul and the instrumentalists moving side to side in tandem. They also gestured to the side screen at one point to let the late Trugoy<\/a>\u2019s verse play on its own. Watch a replay of the performance below.<\/p>\n

Cabin in the Sky<\/em> came out last<\/a> week, making it the rap group\u2019s first new album in nine years, following 2016\u2019s And the Anonymous Nobody…<\/em><\/a>, and their first since the 2023 death<\/a> of David Jude \u201cTrugoy\u201d Jolicoeur<\/a>. \u201cCabin in the Sky<\/em> lives in that space between loss and light,\u201d Posdnuos said in a press release. \u201cIt\u2019s about the pain we carry and the joy that somehow still finds us. This album is therapy and celebration at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n
