I wanted to get ahead of the Netflix streaming date next month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">I&#8217;m really pleased I went \u2013 save for the Everyman pricing (<em>gasp<\/em>) \u2013 to see Daniel Craig reprise his role as private detective Benoit Blanc. Well, I was when he <em>finally<\/em> turned up on screen \u2013 he&#8217;s not even in the film for the first 45 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">But after the credits rolled, at the 2 hours and 24 minutes mark, I couldn&#8217;t help but think I&#8217;d have been better off waiting for Netflix. After all, <em>Knives Out 3 <\/em>(as it&#8217;s colloquially being called) will be on <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.t3.com\/features\/the-best-streaming-service\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:the best streaming service;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">the best streaming service<\/a> from 12 December \u2013 so it&#8217;s just around the corner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Director Rian Johnson, who has helmed all the <em>Knives Out<\/em> movies, is certainly on fine form \u2013 but seemingly has further fallen for the &#8220;longer is better&#8221; approach that&#8217;s embedded in modern cinema. I find 143 minutes is a little overextended, but easier to take on a streaming service in the comfort of my living room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Not that <em>Knives Out 3<\/em> will ever leave you bored, mind, given its ensemble cast is among the greatest united in one movie \u2013 and they&#8217;re all stellar. There&#8217;s Josh Brolin, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Andrew Scott, Jeffery Wright, Mila Kunis, Kerry Washington, and many more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">While the latest<em> Knives Out<\/em> caper continues with Johnson&#8217;s sharp script-writing flair \u2013 there are plenty of giggle-out-loud moments throughout, too \u2013 I couldn&#8217;t help but find the third movie&#8217;s tone just somewhat&#8230; <em>different<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><span class=\"slidecount\">Image 1 of 5<\/span><\/p>\n<figure Mystery<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Perhaps it&#8217;s the religious tropes, perhaps it&#8217;s the setting \u2013 upstate New York, USA, but could be anywhere \u2013 or perhaps it&#8217;s that Blanc&#8217;s more sombre and vulnerable appearance doesn&#8217;t sit quite right with his usual vibrancy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">That&#8217;s why I&#8217;ll be watching again when <em>Wake Up Dead Man<\/em> comes to Netflix in December, though, to reinvestigate all the feelings the movie stirred in me. Plus, knowing how it concludes, I&#8217;ll be able to see the various <em>whodunnit<\/em> clues in that second-pass viewing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Right now I&#8217;ve also got one of<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.t3.com\/features\/best-oled-tv\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:the best OLED TVs;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"> the best OLED TVs<\/a> set up at home \u2013 complete with Philips&#8217; Ambilight \u2013 paired with a punchy surround system. Honestly, given that some Everyman screens are small and with screens to match, that at-home perception of grandeur might be better \u2013 in all its up-close 4K glory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">So, yes, I loved watching <em>Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery<\/em>, but it&#8217;s not my favourite of the trio of movies. And while Rotten Tomatoes has a lofty 95% positive score from both critics and audience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">However, I suspect the audience rating will drop off come 12 December when more people get eyes on the movie \u2013 and also ponder whether it&#8217;s actually the least enjoyable <em>Knives Out<\/em> mystery to grace our screens yet.
