DSPs body DiMA has commissioned a survey from research firm Leger to back its opposition to aspects of the plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No surprises to see it finding that \u201c66% of Qu\u00e9becers believe the government should not influence which music is available on streaming services\u201d then. Although as far as we\u2019re aware, quotas are more likely to be about what gets playlisted and recommended, rather than interfering with what\u2019s available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey also gives a strong hint at what the streaming services\u2019 next move may be if they don\u2019t manage to persuade the Qu\u00e9bec government to back off its plans. \u201c76% of Qu\u00e9becers would oppose the legislation if it raised music streaming subscription prices,\u201d it noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>DiMA has\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/dima.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/DIMA-Bill-109-Brief.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previously argued<\/a>\u00a0that the \u2018Bill 109\u2019 legislation would mean \u201ca significant increase in compliance costs\u201d for streaming services.
