CLEVELAND, Ohio \u2013 Additional details have been announced for Packy Malley\u2019s fundraiser to help Jamaicans in the aftermath of the hurricane that roared through the island nation in October.<\/p>\n

Malley was on medical leave from the Peace Corps, where he served in Jamaica. After the hurricane ripped through the nation, he knew he had to do something to help.<\/p>\n

So he created the Jamaican Hurricane Benefit and Holiday Gathering. It\u2019s 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the West Side Irish American Club, 8559 Jennings Road, Olmsted Township.<\/p>\n

Money raised will go to building supplies, roofing boards, generators and medical aid.<\/p>\n

Malley, of the Malley\u2019s Chocolates<\/a> family, is a former Jamaican-record disc jockey who founded the Midwest Reggae Festival in 1992. Malley attended St. Ignatius High School and Ohio State University.<\/p>\n

As Malley said on his Facebook announcement: \u201cThis event is about good people from America helping good people in Jamaica.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hurricane Melissa was savage, slowly swirling over the nation. It was responsible for 45 deaths, displaced thousands and caused $7 billion in damages.<\/p>\n

Malley plans to return to Jamaica in his Peace Corps role.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
