After his debut in Season 4, he returns to bring Henry Creel\u2019s monstrous form to life once again \u2014 and this time, the character arrives with new layers, new physicality, and a deeper exploration of his origins.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"&#039;Stranger Things&#039; Season 5 Vol. 1 Cast Interview with SPOILERS ft Jamie Campbell Bower &amp; Duffer Bros\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mFxjgUNuLIk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>When asked how he approached Vecna differently for the upcoming season, Bower explained to Blavity\u2019s Shadow and Act that the character\u2019s internal drive remains the foundation of his performance. \u201cI think so much of his end goal is based in this idea of resentment and a desire to win, basically, which is something that you have to constantly and just be aware of,\u201d he said. \u201cHow do I go about tackling it? I think I was so fortunate enough with season 4 to have so many beautiful, broad references with regards to, even the voice came from Doug Bradley as Pinhead [in <em>Hellraiser<\/em>]. So it\u2019s just about retention basically.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-were-there-any-changes-with-vecna-s-design\">Were there any changes with Vecna\u2019s design?<\/h2>\n<p>But Season 5 brings major shifts in Vecna\u2019s physical design \u2014 changes fans have already glimpsed in the trailer. \u201cI don\u2019t know how much you\u2019ve seen, but obviously, we have the trailer that\u2019s out for the new season. So it\u2019s obvious that Vecna\u2019s changed now. And within that, there comes creative discussions that we needed to have,\u201d Bower said. \u201cSo what you\u2019re seeing now on screen is a larger blend between CG and prosthetics and practical. Chest upwards is prosthetic and hand is prosthetic, but everything else is CG.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maintaining continuity with his terrifying Season 4 portrayal meant getting specific about the villain\u2019s movement and physical presence. \u201cWe had a lot of conversations about gait, and posture, and presence, and size and just making sure that all of those things that we were able to carry into season 4 were still present in <em>Stranger Things<\/em> 5, but there were still things that were different.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-jamie-campbell-bower-promises-answers-and-fulfillment-regarding-vecna-henry\">Jamie Campbell Bower promises answers and fulfillment regarding Vecna\/Henry<\/h2>\n<p>When asked what fans can expect from the endgame,  especially regarding Henry and Vecna\u2019s story, Bower described a season that digs deeper into the character than ever before. \u201cGosh, I think you can expect a really fulfilling journey with seeing the various different layers of who and why this person is. That will become so much clearer once you see the rest of the show,\u201d he said. \u201cI know it sounds so vague, but from a performance level and from a performance perspective, it was something that I took great pleasure in as we journeyed through the season, was being able to know that what I was showing was more of a presentation of self rather than really human.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A second speaker added that viewers will get far more insight than they might expect. \u201cAnd I think it\u2019s pretty fulfilling. It must be as well, because we do think that, at least from a viewer perspective, you think that we get a ton of Henry in season 4, and a little bit of the backstory, but to even dive even further into that in this season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They added that the mysteries of the Upside Down will finally become clearer. \u201cAnd I know that I, of course, haven\u2019t seen this part yet, but knowing what exactly is the upside down, and how all of this ties together, I think is something that I\u2019m interested in seeing.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-season-5-of-stranger-things-s-connection-to-stranger-things-the-first-shadow\">Season 5 of \u2018Stranger<em> <\/em>Things\u2019s connection to \u2018Stranger Things: The First Shadow\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>And in a final reflection on how the broader <em>Stranger Things<\/em> universe has helped expand Henry\u2019s story, they said: \u201cI think it\u2019s going to be amazing. And it\u2019s been so lovely, because, obviously, between season 4 and <em>Stranger Things 5<\/em>, there\u2019s also been <em>The First Shadow<\/em> on Broadway in the West End in London. And so people have been able to learn more about this season and where we could go, and we\u2019ll certainly have questions answered about Vecna and Henry\u2019s origins.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Stranger Things <\/em>Season 5 Vol. 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
