Fayetteville and the Cool Spring Downtown District will ring in its annual A District New Year\u2019s Eve Spectacular with nationally known rappers Bubba Sparxxx and Yung Joc and R&B headlining group 702.<\/p>\n\n

The celebration will start at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 31 and continue until 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1 at Festival Park, 335 Ray Ave. in Fayetteville, a Nov. 18 news release from the Cool Spring Downtown District states.<\/p>\n

Past headliners at the New Year’s Eve celebration, now in its fifth year, include Arrested Development, Spinderella, Tony! Toni! Ton\u00e9! and Coolio.<\/p>\n

The event is open to the public at no cost. Here’s what else to know about this year’s festivities.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

This year’s acts<\/h2>\n

R&B group 702<\/a>, formed in Las Vegas, takes its name from the city’s area code, and its current lineup consists of Misha Grinstead and Meelah Williams.<\/p>\n

Their debut album, \u201cNo Doubt,\u201d is certified Gold and features hits like “Steelo” and “Get It Together,” and the group\u2019s self-titled second album, “702,” features the top five Billboard Hot 100 hit “Where My Girls At?\u201d<\/p>\n

Bubba Sparxxx<\/a>, born Warren Anderson Mathis, gained mainstream success with his 2001 album \u201cDark Days, Bright Nights,\u201d which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and features the hit lead single \u201cUgly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sparxxx, known for blending hip-hop with country, followed up with \u201cDeliverance\u201d in 2003, and his third album, \u201cThe Charm,\u201d was released in 2006 and features the hit \u201cMs. New Booty.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Yung Joc<\/a>, born Jasiel Amon Robinson, is known for his 2006 hit single “It’s Goin’ Down,\u201d which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.<\/p>\n\n

His debut album, \u201cNew Joc City,\u201d was certified platinum, while his second album, \u201cHustlenomics,\u201d was released in 2007 and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.<\/p>\n

Yung Joc is also featured on T-Pain’s hit song “Buy U a Drank,\u201d and is a radio host and television personality, seen on \u201cLove & Hip Hop: Atlanta.\u201d<\/p>\n

What else to expect<\/h2>\n

According to the Cool Spring Downtown District, the District NYE Spectacular will also feature several other local bands and electric DJ dance sets on the stage.<\/p>\n\n

Organizers said food trucks, children’s activities and more will be on site \u201cin an atmosphere alive with color, lights, sounds, and entertaining performances.\u201d<\/p>\n

At midnight, organizers will raise a custom-designed 18-foot multi-colored New Year\u2019s Eve star \u201cthat is a symbol of the City of Fayetteville\u201d into the sky, illuminated by fireworks, for the community to ring in the new year together.<\/p>\n
