Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/a> revealed their newborn son\u2019s name just days after his birth in May 2019<\/a>, with many royal fans eagerly awaiting details on the couple\u2019s first child. Unlike many royal babies born before him, the couple opted for an adorable name that hadn\u2019t been previously used within the Royal Family.<\/p>\n

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is now aged six<\/a> and, although born in the UK, he now resides in the US with his parents and his little sister, four-year-old Princess Lilibet. It has been widely believed that Harry wanted to name his son after a special person from his military career.<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old served in the army with Major Tom Archer-Burton, who was often known by his nickname ‘Archie’.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Harry has previously credited Archie for saving his career especially when he was told he couldn’t fight in Iraq in 2007.<\/p>\n

He then encouraged Harry to stay in the armed forces, even helping to keep the news that he had been deployed in the battle zone out of the public eye.<\/p>\n

Speaking days after Prince Archie’s birth, a source told The Sun<\/a>: “It\u2019s well known in Army circles, and Archie\u2019s inner circle, that baby Archie is a nod to him.<\/p>\n

“The two men have stayed in regular contact, and Archie has met most of Harry\u2019s family including Meghan.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The insider added: “It\u2019s an incredible honour but Archie is an incredibly modest chap, and won\u2019t be making a big deal of it.”<\/p>\n

Two years after the birth of Archie, Meghan and Harry welcomed their second child, a daughter, in 2021.<\/p>\n

Lilibet, which was the nickname used by the late Queen Elizabeth II, was named in honour of her beloved great-grandmother.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
