A pop-punk has updated its most beloved song with a surprising new singer.<\/p>\n

Goldfinger teamed up with skate legend Tony Hawk and alternative hip-hop star Bryce Vine for a new version of \u201cSuperman,\u201d mixing rap with alternative rock. The song actually now features vocals from Hawk, who included the original version on the soundtrack for his video game \u201cTony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Tony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater\u2019 w<\/i>as everything for us early-2000s kids. The soundtrack was like a secret mixtape that shaped a whole generation of musicians\u2014I was one of them,\u201c Vine said<\/a>. \u201dThe first time I heard \u2018Superman,\u2019 it pulled me straight into ska and punk. Fast-forward years later, I\u2019m in the studio with (Goldfinger frontman) John Feldmann asking if he\u2019d want to produce a cover of his own track. He\u2019s like \u2018Hell yeah. We should get Tony Hawk to feature.\u2019 Wild how stuff comes full circle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hawk, 57, is a former professional skateboarder, 10-time X Games gold medalist, and entrepreneur behind the Birdhouse brand and products like \u201cTony Hawk\u2019s Pro Skater\u201d video games<\/a>. Also known as Birdman, Hawk is considered one of the greatest and most influential skaters of all time, appearing in movies and TV shows like \u201cThe New Guy,\u201d \u201cJackass,\u201d \u201cGleaming the Cube,\u201d \u201cCSI: Miami,\u201d \u201cThrashin\u2019\u201d and Nirvana\u2019s \u201cSmells Like Teen Spirit\u201d video.<\/p>\n

Hawk has previously sung \u201cSuperman\u201d live with Goldfinger<\/a>, but is certainly not known as a singer. The only other music release featuring his vocals is a two-song EP, \u201cIn the City,\u201d with Punk Rock Karaoke in 2022.<\/p>\n

Vine, 37, is a rapper-singer best known for his mix of alternative hip-hop, rock and R&B on songs like \u201cDrew Barrymore,\u201d \u201cLa La Land,\u201d \u201cSour Patch Kids,\u201d and the Loud Luxury collaboration \u201cI\u2019m Not Okay.\u201d He performed at the New York State Fair<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n

Goldfinger, led by singer John Feldmann, is a pop-punk\/ska\/alternative rock band best known for \u201890s and 2000s hits like \u201cSuperman\u201d and a cover of \u201c99 Red Balloons,\u201d which both have more than 100 million streams on Spotify. Their music has also been featured in movies like \u201cEurotrip,\u201d \u201cNot Another Teen Movie,\u201d \u201cThe Waterboy,\u201d \u201cKingpin,\u201d \u201cBASEketball\u201d and \u201cSonic the Hedgehog 3.\u201d<\/p>\n
