Hilary Duff was intimidated by Jennifer Coolidge while working on the 2004 movie \u201cA Cinderella Story\u201d together.<\/p>\n

The \u201cLizzie McGuire\u201d alum reminisced about working with the \u201cAmerican Pie\u201d star and how Coolidge got into character as Fiona, the wicked stepmother of Duff\u2019s character, Sam, in the modernization of the classic fairy tale. <\/p>\n

\u201cBy the way, it\u2019s just so much fun to watch her career,\u201d Duff, 38, said of the Emmy-winning actress. \u201cShe just goes there in such a big way that it was really impressive and slightly intimidating as a teenager.\u201d <\/p>\n

Duff recalled, \u201cShe was mean to me, so it was a little scary, \u2019cause I was only like 15 and she was just, you know, mean to me \u2019cause she\u2019s my evil stepmother.\u201d \u00a9Warner Bros\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/span><\/p>\n

Duff admitted Coolidge, 64, was so good in character that it made her uncomfortable.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the time, I was like \u2026,\u201d Duff said, recalling taking deep breaths. \u201cI had to be like, \u2018You\u2019re filming a movie. You\u2019re filming a movie.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Coolidge\u2019s rep didn\u2019t immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment on Duff\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n

Directed by Mark Rosman, \u201cA Cinderella Story\u201d also starred Chad Michael Murray as Duff\u2019s love interest, Austin, and Regina King as Rhonda, Sam\u2019s fairy godmother. The movie was a commercial success and inspired\u00a0multiple straight-to-video films.<\/p>\n

Murray, 44, shared his idea for a sequel to the film in an interview with Parade<\/a> in July. The original ending saw Austin and Sam going off to Princeton together.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the way that I would do it would be, as love does in high school, it doesn\u2019t work out,\u201d he said. \u201cMost of the time, they\u2019ve gone separate ways. They\u2019ve had their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Murray shared that he had an idea for a sequel in an interview with Parade in July. Hilary Duff\/Instagram<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe my character would be a teacher at this point, an English teacher back at the school, and maybe Hilary Duff\u2019s character got married, had kids [and] it didn\u2019t work out,\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd now her daughter happens to be in my class, and you do a dual Cinderella story, where she\u2019s a little shy, and she maybe doesn\u2019t fit in. And [my character] nurtures that. And blah, blah, blah. I think that would be something to tell.\u201d<\/p>\n

Murray also shared why he thinks the film has stood the test of time.<\/p>\n

\u201cStill today, young girls are watching it all the time, and every time it\u2019s on, I\u2019m sitting there going, \u2018You know what? They did a great job with this film. Hats off to everybody that was a part of this film,’\u201d he shared. \u201cThey did a great job.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
