The King has donated some of the curtains from Sandringham to be
\nrecycled as part of a push to make money for charity this
\nChristmas.<\/p>\n


\nKing Charles<\/a> has donated old drapes from the royal residence in
\nNorfolk so that they can be transformed into some of the most
\nsophisticated Christmas stockings you might hope to see.<\/p>\n

The finished stockings are now being auctioned for charity with
\nthe proceeds going to the King\u2019s Foundation to help with its work
\nrunning workshops for young people to learn heritage skills.<\/p>\n

It means that the curtains are helping to continue vital
\ntechniques which are in danger of being lost as fewer people
\npractise them.<\/p>\n

The good work doesn\u2019t stop there. The stockings have been made
\nby volunteers at the sewing bee at another of The King\u2019s favourite
\nplaces, Dumfries House in Scotland.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ve used some very traditional techniques including hand
\nembroidery and piping to create the stockings which are being
\nauctioned to raise vital funds.<\/p>\n

Each stocking took at least six hours to create and finish with
\nmembers of the Dumfries House Sewing Bee which is a community
\ninitiative spearheaded by The King\u2019s Foundation.<\/p>\n

Members include experienced sewers as well as novices who have
\npicked up some sophisticated skills in the time they have been part
\nof the collective.<\/p>\n

The stockings are all individually numbered to show just how
\nunique each is.<\/p>\n

They are being sold as part of The King\u2019s Foundation\u2019s 2025 Charity
\nAuction<\/a>. The starting price for each stocking will be \u00a3250 and
\nthe auction will be live for 12 days, starting on December 1 2025.
\nSeveral of the stockings are already on bids well above their
\nstarting price.<\/p>\n

All the money raised will go towards offering training to young
\npeople to develop skills which will help them pursue careers.<\/p>\n

However, one stocking won\u2019t be for sale. The 25th and final stocking<\/a> has been
\nput aside by its creators as a thank you present to King Charles
\nwho came up with the idea of taking down the curtains and making
\nthem into Christmas gifts himself.<\/p>\n
