British singer Jessie J has released one of the most vulnerable albums of her career.<\/p>\n
‘Don’t Tease Me with a Good Time’ debuted on Friday, November 28. The 37-year-old started writing the album six years ago.<\/p>\n
A lot has happened in the singer’s life since then. She has experienced many highs and lows, which all inspired material for her new project.<\/p>\n
Shortly before the album’s release, she dropped a new single, ‘I’ll Never Know Why’. The song addresses the death of her bodyguard and friend, known as Dave.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“The music journey in this album is about deep grief to finding your joy and happiness again. This song is the saddest point of the album and I wanted to capture that in this visual,” Jessie J said.<\/p>\n
She recorded the track’s music video<\/a> in one take. She cries throughout the visuals.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Real Grief. Simple, sad and honest. I don\u2019t hide from emotion. I like to stand in it feel it. You can\u2019t heal what you don\u2019t acknowledge.\u00a0Wearing my Lasty hoodie\u00a0@bullxtprooflondon\u00a0made for the tour I dedicated to Dave.”<\/p>\n Dave reportedly took his own life in 2018.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I\u2019m hugging anyone who is reading this, feeling like they don\u2019t want to be in this anymore. Please talk to someone. We want you here.”<\/p>\n Jessie J, who early this year revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer<\/a>, also sings about the miscarriage she suffered in 2021 before welcoming her son, Sky Safir.<\/p>\n She broke down while singing ‘Comes in Waves’ during a listening party in London last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I don’t remember a day\/\u00a0I haven’t thought of your face\/\u00a0That my little heart couldn’t make\/\u00a0You slipped away\/\u00a0I know why you came\/\u00a0To light up the way\/\u00a0There’s no one to blame\/\u00a0You just slipped away,” she sings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Jessie J also seemingly addresses her breakup with actor Channing Tatum<\/a> in another song, ‘Threw It Away’.\u00a0<\/p>\n The couple broke up in 2020. She has since moved on with professional basketball player Chanan Safir Colman, while Tatum is reportedly dating Australian model Inka Williams.\u00a0<\/p>\n Before singing the song, Jessie J said: “This next song I wrote in 2020 with Ryan Tedder, and you can figure out who I was dating.\u201d<\/p>\n She described the subject of the song as a “beast” who will get their karma one day.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I put my heart out on the table\/That\u2019s when it got uncomfortable\/No more honey, Monday to Sunday\/\u00a0Oh, you got a new bae, huh, okay.”<\/p>\n Speaking about her album on Instagram, Jessie J says she is proud of not giving up despite life’s challenges.\u00a0<\/p>\n “What I went and have been through to get to this point, to this moment only I will truly ever know. But that\u2019s what I am celebrating in this moment. I didn\u2019t quit,” she wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Man was I close in moments but I didn\u2019t!!! I did it!!! We did it!!! Thank you to everyone who supported making this happen.\u00a0I\u2019m sobbing posting this.
